We are a team of N.Y.C.-based educators, speech-language pathologists, and tutors trained in the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach. We provide bespoke academic support for school-aged children and guidance for parents and caregivers.
LGR Learning Group specializes in supporting children with and without learning differences, including dyslexia. We use OG and other evidence-based methods tailored to each child. Our extensive library of engaging, effective materials is designed to help kids connect with content and build confidence.
Our goal is to strengthen every child’s ability to work independently and efficiently by identifying the support they need across all subjects. Whether your child is an emerging reader, a pre-teen, or a high school student feeling overwhelmed by assignments and exams, we can help.

LGR Learning Group helps elementary through high school students struggling with reading, spelling, and writing through the Orton-Gillingham (OG) Approach. We offer one-on-one lessons tailored to each child's individual learning needs and pace. OG is diagnostic and prescriptive, using assessments to identify strengths and intervention needs for customized learning plans. The structured curriculum teaches phonemic awareness, sound-symbol correspondence, syllable types, and spelling patterns through a clear scope and sequence. Instruction is direct and explicit, with concepts clearly stated and support provided until students achieve independence. We incorporate visual, auditory, and tactile elements simultaneously, giving students multiple pathways to connect and retain information. The systematic progression moves from simple to complex concepts, building on previously learned content with continuous review until mastery is achieved.

Math proficiency builds on foundational concepts, just like reading. Students must master basic skills before advancing to new ones. Our tutors understand grade-level math expectations and utilize proven strategies, including number lines, manipulatives, skip counting, doubling, and keyword identification in word problems. We assess which approaches work best for each child and combine targeted instruction with multisensory techniques to make math concepts clear and accessible.

We provide personalized academic support designed to help students build confidence, develop strong study habits, and achieve success across subject areas. Our approach goes beyond homework help—we focus on strengthening foundational skills, reinforcing classroom learning, and teaching effective strategies for organization, time management, and independent study. Whether a student needs targeted assistance in reading, writing, or math, or broader support across multiple subjects, our team creates individualized plans that align with your child’s school curriculum and each learner’s unique needs. We collaborate closely with families and educators to ensure consistency and progress.

Executive function skills enable children to manage their lives and succeed in the classroom by facilitating problem-solving, flexible thinking, and emotional self-control. Children with executive function challenges often struggle with planning, prioritizing, focusing on schoolwork, and adapting to change. We address these challenges by identifying each child's optimal learning style and building essential skills, including organization, working memory, self-monitoring, and strategic planning. Our approach breaks tasks into explicit, achievable steps while teaching students to prioritize and adapt independently.
